Boards should be oiled monthly to keep them vibrant and prevent drying out

Treat with Food Grade Mineral Oil once a month if possible. It will restore the vibrant color and prevent it from fading and drying out. I recommend Howard’s or Thirteen Chefs, both of which are available on Amazon . Doing this  is important to the health and overall life of your product.

Do not soak or submerge the boards in water and NEVER put the board in the dishwasher. Wash the board with hot soapy water, dry the excess moisture with  a paper towel and stand the board on end to air dry. Wash slate boards with a soft sponge or cloth and mild dish soap in warm water and allow to air dry completely before storing them or

Rubbing mineral oil in will also hide any scratches.

use lemon and vinegar to get odors out of boards

  Remove odors by rubbing the board with kosher or table salt and half a lemon. To sanitize, wash the board with a solution of one part vinegar to five parts water.
